notabadday:

They did the most beautiful job of giving me everything I wanted. Everything I wanted for the characters and everything I wanted emotionally, to send off this show. The way Steve’s return was handled was masterful, never overshadowing the show’s goodbye but respecting the deep relationship he has with the characters.

Everything great about the show was celebrated in its finale, and things I didn’t even know I wanted to see brought me so much joy and laughter. Little moments that I will treasure forever occurred - with Pam curled up in Jim’s arms, Michael and Dwight dancing, Jen Celotta finally getting to be a Schrute. Then there were the things that I’ve wanted for the characters for so long - Erin getting to meet her parents, Nellie getting a baby, Michael getting the children he’s always wanted and overloading the storage space of his phone with pictures of them, Pam giving Jim a moment in return for all those he’s given her. I got my dreams.

It was everything. It was for us, that episode. It was for us and it was for them. It wasn’t about ratings or marketing or anything else. It was about every person who this show ever meant something to. That was our reward. I will remember you, The Office. I will remember William M. Buttlicker, and I will remember mixed berry yoghurt. I will remember Michael Klump, Prison Mike and Agent Michael Scarn. I will remember Dwigt and I will remember That One Night. Everything. That finale was a celebration of everything I’ve loved for the nine seasons of this show, and it fills me with joy (and sadness to see it go). All in all, not a bad finale.

Not a bad nine years.
